Better than an iPOD, Sony Ericsson has announced the new W580 Walkman, a slider cell phone featuring "music with pure street style" for up to 20 hours of continuous playback.

The W580 Walkman is capable to store up to 470 full-length tracks into a slim device with powerful speakerphone, FM Radio with RDS PlayNow, Disc2Phone Music, and TrackID music recognition software.

This handset supports multiple music formats such as MP3, AAC, AAC+, e-AAC+, and is packed with expandable 512 MB Memory Stick Micro, plus 12 MB user-free memory.

Sony Ericsson W580 Walkman is fully designed with music in mind, including music illumination effects, stereo handset and A2DP Bluetooth streaming sound. However, multimedia is not left out.

The new W850 Walkman is a Quad Band EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 device with bright 2.0” QVGA 262K-color TFT display, a 2.0 mega pixel camera, discretely placed inside the slider, besides many active applications, pedometer, and picture blogging.

Other remarkable features include games support through Java MIDP 2.0; full featured HTML Browser RSS capable, instant messaging, POP3 and IMAP4 email, Java-enabled push mail, and USB Mass storage.

Announced in London, UK, during the last week of March 2007 and designed in Urban Grey and Style White colors, Sony Ericsson W580 Walkman will be available only on selected markets starting on the third quarter this year.
